Push Whimsy #1

Kevin Smith at Wiseguys

Last night I received my call to action.

7pm: Left the house for Wiseguys Comedy in West Valley, UT.

7:20-9:20pm: Waited in line for prime seats to see Kevin Smith.

10pm: Mind blown by Kevin Smith.

2am: Bed time.

During Kevin's show, he profoundly stated that everyone has a unique voice. Each person processes massive amounts of data that we push through our own prisms of understanding. You have to put your voice and perspective out into the world and never waiver in your dream. He was so grateful for the chance he had to wake up every day and bring his dreams to life and to pretend. He surrounded himself with people that said, "Why not?" and he always "pushed whimsy."

Push whimsy.

"Whimsy: a thing that is fanciful or odd" (courtesy of Google)

I'm going to plaster this saying everywhere.

Too often I dream of expressing my inner musings. I am inspired by the teen fiction that I read when reading was my air. I am inspired by the countless children's book and puzzles that I pieced into my understanding. Do I sell my voice short because I am intimidated by the greatness of others?  Do I hold myself back because I fear that I am not original or interesting?

My voice is important, if for only me, then so be it. But I expect myself to push my limits. I need to go to the all the places in my imagination and share those outwardly! If for the very least to be happy.
